About 10 blogs ago, I wrote an article titled: The Power of the Blank Canvas
In that article I shared that one of my hobbies is painting. I'm such a cliche....the architect who thinks he's an artist.
I shared the beginnings of a new painting I was working on. I can't decide if the painting should be named The Truck, or Rust. Any thoughts?
The Truck? Or Rust?
I planned on sharing the entire process of this painting and it had been a while since I provided an update. Can you believe it....I have been having trouble finding time to paint....go figure!
Anyways...I got in a couple good sessions this weekend and figured I'd show you where i'm at.
Here we go!
I start with one color at a time. Usually the primary colors. And go from there.
Texture and Brush Stroke
At this point I have the entire 3'x3' canvas covered in paint. I am comfortable with the accuracy of the truck and have an understanding of the color palette. Now I am starting to add texture to the painting with more variations on color and different types of brush strokes.
In this next one you can see a little bit of texture being built into the bumper and hood. The truck has some very beautiful rust happening.
Not a bad start!
I have to admit that my painting skills are a little rusty. No pun intended. Finding 2 hours here and there has been a little challenging...but I'll get there. I'd say that this painting is about 25% complete.
Wish me luck!
